#foodpost: One of the BEST Roast Goose at Kam's Roast Goose @ Wan Chai, Hennessy Road, Hong Kong

Got the opportunity to try out this Michelin Awarded Roasted Goose at Wan Chai, Hennessy Road today - Kam's Roast Goose.

We did a little research on some of the best places to try out Roasted Goose here in HK and we came about this eatery which happen to be one of the highly recommended ones here at Wan Chai.

They were awarded with the Michelin Award for 4 consecutive years now! They defended and kept their title in 2018 as well! Kudos!

There will always be a line outside this eatery, so be prepared to wait when you visit. I would advise you probably to come after 2pm after the lunch crowd is over.

No doubt the roast goose is GOOD as expected! Freshly roasted from the kitchen and served retaining it's juiciness & crispy-ness of its skin! Not to mentioned, its well marinated too! Totally explains why they were awarded with their Michelin Award!

On the other hand, I was a little disappointed with their roasted pork here as I felt that the roasted pork served here at Kam's is a little too dry for me compared to the goose. I think it would be better if it has some sauce to go with it and burnt just a little bit more but Hey! It's just my personal opinion.

So do drop by when you're around HK!

Price:
1/2 a goose: 280 HKD
Char Siu: 65 HKD
Drinks: 100 HKD
Total damage: 445 HKD ( 148 HKD per person)

Personally I feel it's worth the try when you come by HK despite the price is a little bit on the high side. Afterall, 148 HKD on an average for a Micheline Awarded Restaurant totally worth the price!

Definitely be back for the Roasted Goose!

Let me know which other good places for Roast Goose you've come about :)

#Foodpost: Sashimi done right at Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant @ Old Klang Road

Many apologies to my readers as I was very busy for the month of November as there were quite a number of occasions that I have to attend to which occupied most of my time. Finally! I'm back at my Food & Travel platform to update you guys on my recent food adventure.

Recently, my family and I stumbled upon this cozy and comfortable Japanese restaurant along Old Klang Road - Kimi-Ya. I did not know about the existence of this little eatery until a few of my friends who told me about it and actually gave great comments and review on it!

Served with a cup of welcome drink during our visit :) FYI, the welcome drink is only available for dinner times only.

Here at Kimi-Ya they practice an open kitchen similar to other Japanese restaurant for its patrons to witness their food being prepared freshly before their eyes! You can even opt to dine by it if you like :)

Look at the pinky fresh cuts there! Looking at this now makes me drool.

We started off by sharing a plate of Kimi-Ya Soft Shell Crab salad

Consist of generous amount of greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, crispy fish skins, soft shell crab and fish roe for a tinge of saltiness. You can opt to choose either sesame, wafu or yuzu dressing. Of course I went for my all time favourite which is the sesame dressing!

Next up, Matsu Sashimi Mariowase! A meal at a Japanese Restaurant will never be complete without a platter of mariowase! We chose this mid range mariowase platter as we would decided to try some other dishes as well. As mentioned earlier, I was totally satisfied with their Sashimi cuts here at Kimi-Ya as i felt that they served a generous piece here compared to other Japanese restaurants. I felt the satisfaction that I was looking for when having my Sashimi here!

What's even better here is that, they do also served fresh wasabi (upon request) where patrons would be able to grate it themselves, (P/S: There's a slight charges for the fresh wasabi). In my honest opinion, I personally love the taste the fresh wasabi compared to the usual wasabi that is found in any other restaurants. I can actually taste the freshness and the bits of the plant. If you've never tried a fresh wasabi before, it'll definitely worth a try!

Oh! You can also show the waiter this picture of the wasabi during your order just in case to avoid any miscommunications.

Salmon

Tuna belly

White tuna

Yellow tail

We also specially ordered this Honmaguro Toro Sashimi which is their November promotion at RM76.00 for 5 pieces & RM48.00 for 3 pieces. Valid from 1st November until 30th November 2017. I especially love this "buttery" & "melt-in-the-mouth" piece of protein! Be sure to try it whenever you drop by :)

We later on ordered some rice bowls to fill up our tummy after all the fresh goodness :)

Mentai Tama Don

Consist of Japanese rice bowl topped with omelette, and seared marinated roe mayonnaise. A very flavourful bowl of goodness here if you're looking for a good and satisfying rice meal. Portion is good too.

Unagi Cheese Roll

Consist of omelette, cucumber roll with roasted eel, cream cheese and sesame topping

Bara Chirashi Don

Those looking for a healthy bowl, you can have this rice topped with cubed assorted Sashimi.

Wagyu Fried Rice

Another "out of the menu" item apart from the fresh wasabi mentioned earlier, would be this wagyu fried rice. Consist of fragrant rice with generous amount of wagyu beef pieces topped with garlic.

Do present this picture of Wagyu fried rice upon order too!

Zaru Inaniwa Udon

Cold thin wheat noodle served with dipping sauce

Toro Salmon Pirikara Miso Nabe

Fresh salmon belly and assorted vegetables hot pot with soybean paste based soup. I personally prefer my Sashimi to be raw and not cooked as I feel as it gets cooked, the texture of the sashimi get a little harder and rough which I dont really fancy. But hey! that's just my personal preference. However, the soup and the combination of the vegetables and mushrooms are great!

Finally, for some desserts!

Matcha Shiratama Zenzai

Matcha ice cream with red bean paste and glutinous rice balls on the side.

Abekawa Mochi

Homemade rice cake with red bean and soybean powder.

Mizu Shinzen Mochi

Japanese raindrop cake served with brown sugar syrup and soybean powder.

In a nutshell, Kimi-Ya is a mid range Japanese restaurant which serve one of the best Sashimi around Klang Valley so far that I've found. The ambience and surrounding there is very comfortable and cozy best suited for celebrations and gatherings between friends and family. If you're looking to enjoy some good Japanese Cuisine with moderate price, this is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED place for you!

Here's my personal rating,
Ambience: Great! Perfect for gathering and celebrations especially in groups
Food: 9/10 - Highly satisfied
Service: 7/10 - Great service
Pricing: Moderate - expect an approximate of RM50 per person

#Foodpost: Indomie Indobowl @ Sungai Besi

I'm sure many of you have came across the craze of the opening of this new cafe/eatery at Sungai Besi- Indobowl. It went all viral with thousands of shares and likes on their facebook page! I've got the chance to try their indomie over the weekend. Few of my friends who have tried, gave me a few recommendation on what to have there! Check out how my experience there below :)

A collage of the food that I managed to try during my visit

Indomie Mumbo Jumbo
RM59

This Mumbo Jumbo is a great sharing platter for up to 3 to 4 pax! Perfect size for friends and family gathering. It consist of 4 different types of meats, generous amount of indo-mie and topped with 4 fried eggs. Not forgetting their in-famous red and green sambal on the sides which give the platter the extra kick to it! As a indo-mie and chilly lover myself, I definitely enjoyed myself to this platter!

Nasi Pecel Lele
RM9

This dish reminds me of the "Malay style ikan bakar with Sambal". The fish is very fresh accompanied by the red chilly that's perfect! For those fish lovers, this might the one for you :)

Nasi Goreng Seafood
RM10

Nasi Iga
RM15

This Nasi Iga consist of braised beef short ribs served with their special red sambal

Nasi Ayam Madura
RM12

This seems to be one of their more popular choice here.  Served with fresh cooked rice, sliced tomato and cucumbers and some raw cabbage and a deliciously huge piece of protein that's barbecue to perfect golden brown. This would be very worthy to eat priced at RM12 per portion.

Sides

Beef Satay - 5 sticks
RM9

This is one of their more popular sides that's available on their menu that we managed to try :)

Here's their menu,

Sabaidee!!!

It's our 6th day here at Luang Prabang and it's gonna be a days filled with activites! We started off the day with giving offering to monks early in the morning at 6am. Again, if you would like to give some offerings when you're here, you can also do so by some of them from the locals here.

After giving offerings, we went back to our hotel for our breakfast and head out straight to Pak Ou Cave visit. We bought our tickets here at this location in the picture below.

Here's the boat taxis getting ready for boarding

Wine/Whisky village where it's one of the stop on the way to Pak Ou cave. You can find locally made wines and whisky here. We bought a bottle of White Sticky rice Whisky. Havent got the chance to taste it yet thought :)

Finally we arrive after approximately 30 minutes boat ride

Pak Ou cave is one of the most respected holy sites in Lao. Pak Ou cave have a history dating back thousands of years. This caves is packed with over 4000 Buddha icons, a shrine to the river spirit, and Lord Buddha,  are set in a dramatic limestone cliff at the point where Nam Ou joints the Mekong River. At this place, there are 2 different caves to visit namely Tham thing ( the lower one) and Tham Theung ( the higher one).

Remember to bring a torch light when you visit! It's really really dark inside.

Later in the afternoon, we are back to Luang Prabang town and we decided to have lunch here at this Tamarind Tree Restaurant Mekong

This is a great place if you're looking to try out some local dishes with it's price being very reasonable. What's even better is that, you're dining by the famous Mekong River :)

Here's our lunch!

This local delicacy is one of my favorite during lunch best eaten with sticky rice.

After lunch, we did some walk around at the town visiting some temples around

On a side note, after some research and looking around, we realised that this money exchange has one of the best rate here at Luang Prabang! (HAHA!) So, those of you who's looking for currency exchange, this would be it.

Local ice creams which surprisingly delicious!

Here's one of the MUST VISIT place here at Luang Prabang which is the Phu Si Mountain which is located in the center of Luang Prabang town. It is said and recommended by many that here has arguably one of the best sunset in South East Asia! There are a small entrance fee of 20,000 Kip that you'll need to pay and also bring a long a pair of shoe for easier climb up the mountain. There are steps made for the climb so worry not, it would not be a difficult one to get to the top to enjoy the view :)

Remember to be here early to get yourself a great spot to enjoy the sun set :)

Sunset by Mekong River

It's time for dinner and we accidentally stumbled upon this romantic looking restaurant which makes up curious of what they serve and the price of course. It turns out to be a BBQ Steamboat restaurant! We decided to try it after looking through the menu :)

Here are some sides that goes together with your BBQ meats

Meats here are fresh and it's cooked with charcoal which makes it more fragrant (Garing in Malaysian terms =P)

My verdict, this place worth the try! It has a very similar concept to Barbeque Plaza back home in Malaysia. However, great place to chill with your friends and family with affordable price! This can be one of the secret gems of Luang Prabang.

This marks the end of my Luang Prabang, Laos trip this time round! Looking forward to my next trip! Stay tune for my next trip :)  Do drop me an email at "liew_yanwei_05@hotmail.com" and I will give you more information to the best that I can :)
