Half BBQ Chicken

This juicy yet tender Lamb noisettes which I personally would recommend it to you readers!

Lamb Cevapi aka "lamb sausage" which is is very uniquely packed with spices, meat were very well flavoured and marinated. WELL DONE! However, this lamb sausage has quite a strong "lamb smell", therefore, to those who's sensitive and not quite like the lamb smell, this wouln'd be the dish for you.

I'd personally recommend this place for their famous Bountiful Ribs! However, for those who prefer beef as an option, I would say that they fall short on that here. But hey! #Foodpost: Sashimi done right at Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant @ Old Klang Road

Many apologies to my readers as I was very busy for the month of November as there were quite a number of occasions that I have to attend to which occupied most of my time. Finally! I'm back at my Food & Travel platform to update you guys on my recent food adventure.

Recently, my family and I stumbled upon this cozy and comfortable Japanese restaurant along Old Klang Road - Kimi-Ya. I did not know about the existence of this little eatery until a few of my friends who told me about it and actually gave great comments and review on it!

Served with a cup of welcome drink during our visit :) FYI, the welcome drink is only available for dinner times only.

Here at Kimi-Ya they practice an open kitchen similar to other Japanese restaurant for its patrons to witness their food being prepared freshly before their eyes! You can even opt to dine by it if you like :)

Look at the pinky fresh cuts there! Looking at this now makes me drool.

We started off by sharing a plate of Kimi-Ya Soft Shell Crab salad

Consist of generous amount of greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, crispy fish skins, soft shell crab and fish roe for a tinge of saltiness. You can opt to choose either sesame, wafu or yuzu dressing. Of course I went for my all time favourite which is the sesame dressing!

Next up, Matsu Sashimi Mariowase! A meal at a Japanese Restaurant will never be complete without a platter of mariowase! We chose this mid range mariowase platter as we would decided to try some other dishes as well. As mentioned earlier, I was totally satisfied with their Sashimi cuts here at Kimi-Ya as i felt that they served a generous piece here compared to other Japanese restaurants. I felt the satisfaction that I was looking for when having my Sashimi here!

What's even better here is that, they do also served fresh wasabi (upon request) where patrons would be able to grate it themselves, (P/S: There's a slight charges for the fresh wasabi). In my honest opinion, I personally love the taste the fresh wasabi compared to the usual wasabi that is found in any other restaurants. I can actually taste the freshness and the bits of the plant. If you've never tried a fresh wasabi before, it'll definitely worth a try!

Oh! You can also show the waiter this picture of the wasabi during your order just in case to avoid any miscommunications.

Salmon

Tuna belly

White tuna

Yellow tail

We also specially ordered this Honmaguro Toro Sashimi which is their November promotion at RM76.00 for 5 pieces & RM48.00 for 3 pieces. Valid from 1st November until 30th November 2017. I especially love this "buttery" & "melt-in-the-mouth" piece of protein! Be sure to try it whenever you drop by :)

We later on ordered some rice bowls to fill up our tummy after all the fresh goodness :)

Mentai Tama Don

Consist of Japanese rice bowl topped with omelette, and seared marinated roe mayonnaise. A very flavourful bowl of goodness here if you're looking for a good and satisfying rice meal. Portion is good too.

Unagi Cheese Roll

Consist of omelette, cucumber roll with roasted eel, cream cheese and sesame topping

Bara Chirashi Don

Those looking for a healthy bowl, you can have this rice topped with cubed assorted Sashimi.

Wagyu Fried Rice

Another "out of the menu" item apart from the fresh wasabi mentioned earlier, would be this wagyu fried rice. Consist of fragrant rice with generous amount of wagyu beef pieces topped with garlic.

Do present this picture of Wagyu fried rice upon order too!

Zaru Inaniwa Udon

Cold thin wheat noodle served with dipping sauce

Toro Salmon Pirikara Miso Nabe

Fresh salmon belly and assorted vegetables hot pot with soybean paste based soup. I personally prefer my Sashimi to be raw and not cooked as I feel as it gets cooked, the texture of the sashimi get a little harder and rough which I dont really fancy. But hey! that's just my personal preference. However, the soup and the combination of the vegetables and mushrooms are great!

Finally, for some desserts!

Matcha Shiratama Zenzai

Matcha ice cream with red bean paste and glutinous rice balls on the side.

Abekawa Mochi

Homemade rice cake with red bean and soybean powder.

Mizu Shinzen Mochi

Japanese raindrop cake served with brown sugar syrup and soybean powder.

In a nutshell, Kimi-Ya is a mid range Japanese restaurant which serve one of the best Sashimi around Klang Valley so far that I've found. The ambience and surrounding there is very comfortable and cozy best suited for celebrations and gatherings between friends and family. If you're looking to enjoy some good Japanese Cuisine with moderate price, this is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED place for you!

Here's my personal rating,

Malaysia is well known for the wide spread of delicacies. When it comes to food, Malaysia is never short of it! Every corner and every street you turn in Malaysia, you'll definitely find some hidden gems tucked away from the hustles and bustles of city. Food unites us Malaysians and brings us closer together, regardless of age or race.

So, if you do not have any plans for the weekend, especialy to all Harry Potter fans, I would recommend you to watch the Harry Potter Film Concert Series at Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC)

1. ISETAN The Japan Store

At number 1, you can drop by Lot 10 and head up to level 5 to visit this recently opened Japan Store. Being the first ever Japan Store in KL, it has various interesting activites ranging from fashion to food! One of the popular thing in this Japanese Store is the Cheesecake which is soft, light, fluffy and melts in your mouth! I first heard about it when there is the hype on social medias. As a foodie, I knew I had to try it out and here's my verdict on it.

The cheesecake comes together with a scoop of cream which makes it smoother and lighter! The cheesecake has souffle like texture and quite addictive. You'll definitely crave for more after your first bite!

2. Restaurant Queens @ Peel Road

This coffee shop has been here for many years and its popular among the locals for its extensive range of food available. My favourite stall here is the "Ah Wah Grill Wings". The chicken wings here is tasty and has a perfect blend of sweet and salty taste to it which makes it a perfect snack :)

3. Wai Sek Gai @ Pudu

This is known to be the galore of street food in Klang Valley. However, one of the must try here would be the fried chicken just below "Martin Tuition center".

This tasty and crunchy chicken is worth the wait as it is fried till golden brown and it is absolutely perfect! I remember back then it was a comfort food to me as I would always make it a point to eat it after my tuition classes every time!

Indomie lovers! Here's you to-go-to place - Indobowl @ Sungai Besi. If you're travelling in Malaysia in November, it'll just be the perfect timing to visit this eatery who recently created a craze among the locals for its in-famous indomie.

 Indomie Mumbo Jumbo

Accompanied with 4 different types of meats and fried eggs. This sharing platter is just perfect for sharing among 2 to 3 pax! You definitely have to try the  "sambal" which comes in green and red. The red is a little bit more spicy compared to the green however the green has a more fragrant taste to it.

Check out my experience here!

5. Beef Noodle & Mixed pork porridge @ Jalan Tun HS LEE

This hidden gem that is popular among the locals would be this Soong Kee Beef Noodles. Founded by Siew Koy Soon 70 years ago, Soong Kee is now the second generation with its son, Siew Wei Hann now to carry on the family's heritage and to continue bringing this tasty and fragrant beef noodles to the locals tastebuds!

The famous beef noodle at Jalan Tun HS Lee

There are 2 version of beef noodles here and what I usually order is the dry version (in the picture above). The dry version comes with a separate bowl of beef innards, beef balls and beef slices. What i particularly like about this is that the noodle is topped with a generous serving of minced beef with its homemade savoury "black sauce". In general, the beef noodle here is fair with fast service and reasonable price but i usually head to this place for the congee shop just outside who shares the same compound.

Loa Yau Kee Porridge serves many different types of porridge like the raw fish porridge, chicken porridge and the popular mixed pork porridge which has a generous portion of pork slices and other innards. You can also request to exclude the innards and have it with pork balls if you dislike innards. Be sure to be here well before closing time as it gets sold out quick every night!
