It's the time for our annual family trip! This year my family decided to visit Krabi, Thailand. After listening to many positive comments about this place, we finally decided to pay a visit as coincidentally, its the school holiday season too! We took the night train from KL Central at 11.30PM on Monday - 28th August 2017. It took us approximately to arrive at Padang Besar (the border between Malaysia and Thailand).
The Thai border that we were walking pass this morning
We decided to walk from Padang Besar to this Thailand custom border as its only 400 meter distance between both the borders. We managed to arrange a transport by mini van to take us form the border to Hatyai which is about 1 hour drive away from the border. A mini van was chartered that cost 1,000 baht for the whole van. However, we managed to share this cost with another family which is also going to Hatyai with us :)
Here's the bus station at Hatyai where we board a 4 hours bus ride to Krabi.
We arrive at Krabi Bus Terminal approximately at 12.30 noon which we decided to look for a place for lunch. We came across this little eatery located at the bus terminal that serve hot food.
I personally do recommend this rice plate which consist of belacan fried rice, shredded eggs, carrots and mangoes, raw long beans and stir fry chicken. Do not be deceived by the look of this plate, trust me! It taste better than it look! All you need to do is to mix all the ingredients together and enjoy!
Let me know if you like them if you've tried them :) I'll leave my email at the end of this post!
Pineapple fried rice is quite good too! And, it's very affordable for it's price
Later on, after lunch, we hop onto this tut tut which takes us from Krabi Bus Terminal to our resort located at Ao Nang beach. It's about 40 minutes journey with 2 other stops in between. We were charged 60 baht per person for this ride which I think it's pretty affordable. However, I think you can try bargaining for 50baht per person to those coming in the future especially those of you travelling in big groups.
Stopped by at the nearby 7 Eleven to stock our snacks for our stay here! :)
Here we are finally arriving at our Hotel resort after many hours of travelling through train, bus and tut tut.
My first impression of La Playa Resort is great with it's calm and relax ambience from the lobby - welcomed with a glass of refreshing pineapple juice. The room is spacious, cozy and clean! I would definitely recommend this place for those looking for places to stay around this area.
One of the many selling point of this resort would be their swimming pools! They have 2 main swimming pools here - main pool & emerald pool (in the picture above). Unfortunately, their main pool is under maintenance during our stay here. However, we did also enjoyed ourselves at their emerald pool!
After our swim, it's time for dinner! We stumble upon Tara Thai Kitchen just about 300m walk away from our resort.
Seafoods here are rather fresh and is worth the price for its freshness. However, I personally likes my Thai food being a little spicier than what they serve here. In general, the foods here are decent and its sufficient if you're looking for something to fill your tummy for the night!
It's time to rest after dinner and gear up tomorrow for island visiting day! Stay tune!
Check out my day 2 at Krabi island here:
