[Day 2] Laos march 2017 - Out & about! @ Luang Prabang, Laos

It's day 2 at Luang Prabang, Laos and we are loving it here already! A very laid back kinda holiday which we have been looking forward to for awhile to give us a break from the busy hustling KL lifestyle. Without further a due, allow me to show you how my 2nd day here went :) 

We started our day rather late in the AM on day 2. Our hotel also comes with breakfast which we can choose from a list of menu and it's prepared fresh ( I did not get a picture of my breakfast as I forgot my camera in the room - SORRY!).

Anyway, it was a very chilling day for us! It is just a day for us strolling around the town of Luang Prabang, Laos. It's the dry season of the year here at Luang Prabang, therefore weather is kinda hot and humid but that did not stop us from exploring the place! Remember to drink plenty of fluid and bring your necessities (sun screen, sun glasses, cap, etc) when you visit during this time of the year!

After walking around for awhile, we decided to take a rest at this little cafe here overlooking the Mekong River - Parisien Cafe.

We spotted this very unique baguette served with a layer of lemon meringue and almont slices.

Andddddd of course! How can you miss their famous Beer Lao when you visit Laos! It's one of the best beer I've tried so far! Try it for yourself =P

Next, we thought of visiting the National Museum of Luang Prabang but unfortunately it was close for the afternoon. Therefore, we continued strolling around the town and visit the temples around Luang Prabang :)

Wat Xieng Thong is one of the most important of Lao monasteries and remains a significant monument to the spirit of religion, royalty and traditional art. There are over twenty structures on the grounds including a sim, shrines, pavilions and residences, in addition to its gardens of various flowers, ornamental shrubs and trees.

One thing that I realized is that most of the temples here do not need an "entrance fee" to enter. However, only the large ones like Wat Xieng Thong would need a little entrance fees of 20,000 Kip for maintenance purposes.

It has been a long day walking around the town of Luang Prabang looking and exploring this beautiful town! We are truly amazed by the details and architecture of the temples and building around.Thankfully, the weather was kind to us as it was not too hot later on the day :) We ended our 2nd day over a great dinner place at one of the highly recommended restaurant by many!

Laos march 2017 - NIght market @ Luang Prabang, Laos

SABAIDEE!!

This is a trip to Luang Prabang, Laos with my family. In fact, while I'm typing this, I am here in Laos! We decided to visit Luang Prabang this year as we are looking for a place to chill and a place that we can just chill and enjoy the place, people and food there! Therefore, Luang Prabang it is! :)

Luang Prabang, the ancient capital of Luang Prabang Province in northern Laos, lies in a valley at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Inhabited for thousands of years, it was the royal capital of the country until 1975. It’s known for its many Buddhist temples, including the gilded Wat Xieng Thong, dating to the 16th century, and Wat Mai, once the residence of the head of Laotian Buddhism. Luang Prabang is also one of the many UNESCO HERITAGE around the world

To no delay, let the picture below speak for itself of how my first day at Luang Prabang went :)

All thanks to Airasia that we can visit Luang Prabang this year as they have started their new route (a direct flight from KL - Luang Prabang). Of course, how can we miss their in-famous on-board "Pak Naser Nasi Lemak" which are favourites to many even to us Malaysians :)

The duration of our flight took about 3 hours in average and we arrived at 8.45am at Luang Prabang International Airport. In Luang Prabang, there is only 1 way of airport transfer to your Hotel/Hostel/Guest house. However, the price is quite resonable with 80,000 Kip (RM40+) for the 4 of us.

Here's the guest house that we will be staying for the next 2 nights - Global Guesthouse. This guest house is located slightly further out of the the night market ( about 10 minutes walk) but with a price of 50 USD per night for a family room (2 double beds) and breakfast in included.

As our flight is early in the AM at 6.45am, we decided to rest in the guest house upon checking in to catch up on our sleep. After a refreshing nap, we woke up at about 5pm and decided to go to the night market for dinner! Here's some picture that I managed to capture during my stroll to the night market :)

Beer lao! One of the best beer that I have in terms of Asia's beer is concern. Of course, like any other beer, it's best consume when it is icy-cold and its very cheap with only 10,000 Kip (RM5+) per large bottle. 

Papaya salad 

Unlike the one you can find in Thailand, this has a tinge of belacan taste which compliments well with the lime juice squeeze onto it. A perfect combination of sour and spicy!

(RECOMMENDED!!!)

This is an amazing one! You will never miss this dish here in Luang Prabang! It can be found in almost all the stalls at the night market for only 15,000 - 20,000 Kip depending on the size of the fish! Trust me! You'll definitely be back for more! :)

Here at Luang Prabang, they are well known for their sausages be it local or German sausages. So, if you're a sausage lover like I do, wait no more and drop by for a taste of it yourself! :)

When you drop by Luang Prabang, do look out for the "buffet street" at the night market! You'll see many stalls with many dishes like "chap-fan" style in Malaysia. For 15,000 Kip, you'll be given a bowl and you can fit as much food into it.

Do try out their fruit juices and milk shakes too! Very affordable and you get the whole fruit to yourself :)

You'll also find many different local tour companies here that offer good prices for half-day and full-day tour to attractions around Luang Prabang (which I will be going for the next few days). Also, you can shop around and compare prices to get the best package!

After the street snacks, we decided to sit down for a meal of Pizza and beer accompanied by the cooling weather here at Luang Prabang. We found this little eatery along the night market - The PIZZA Luang PraBang.

We also ordered this "Indo-China Steak". This protein is actually buffalo meat which is very tender with very low fat content. Very juicy and flavourful topped with a sliced of cheese and pineapples.

First day is indeed a great one here at Luang Prabang ending it with a walk at the night market and a great dinner of pizza and beer!
